Lupe Fiasco Says He Is Done With Music – Cancels Album

lupe-fiasco-wilkes-university-kirby-center-wilkes-barre

Lupe Fiasco, who is no stranger to calling things as he sees them, has received massive backlash from his “N.E.R.D.” Freestyle, & has reportedly said he is not putting out anymore music, & has cancelled the album he has been promoting for months. DJ Booth wrote an article claiming his lyrics made him “Anti-Semitic” & though Fiasco tried defending himself in a series of tweets, as well as claiming SoundCloud took his song down due to “hate speech” it seems the reports and backlash were the last straw, with him saying “Getting beat up for telling the truth is not how I plan on spending the rest of my life.” Do you think Lupe is in the wrong, or do you think people are just becoming a little bit too sensitive in this day an age? Or could it be a totally different issue of the media blowing something way out of proportion? The discussion is open, leave your comments and thoughts.

Why Concert Prices Are Going Up

Sure, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, are great for discovering music, and admittedly phenomenal for consumption of music, but what does it mean for artists?

Did you know, streaming services pay artists less than a penny per stream?

You might be saying, “yeah, theyre still getting paid everytime a song is played, that adds up” and sure, it does, every million streams is about $7,000.

But think about the amount of album sales are lost, due to the amount of people streaming & not buying music, with the amount of album sales dropping, where do artists make their money?

This is probably why prices for concert tickets are going up, as well as prices for meet & greets.

your favorite artists, and independent artists all put thousands, to millions of dollars to make their music sound great for the consumer, and they want you all to be able to come to their shows when theyr’re on tour, but they need to make their money back.

Stream music to discover an artist, to listen to it, and find out if you like it, but once you become a fan of an artist, show your loyalty and support by purchasing the physical copy, or purchasing the digital copy online.

Trust me, your concert ticket prices will go down, and meet & greet prices will go down.

Kid Cudi out of rehab, releases “Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin”

Kid Cudi is back! Fresh out of rehab, and a brand new album. with sounds similar to his Man On The Moon, & deep, dark lyrics that can only sound pleasant with Cudi’s melodies, “Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin” is a brilliant masterpiece. With collaborations with Travis Scott, who seemingly works very well with Cudi, as well as Willow Smith, Andre 3000 (credited as Andre Benjamin) & Pharrell Williams, this is a project that will influence music again for years to come.kid-cudi-passion-pain-demon-slayin-album-cover-1

J. Cole – 4 Your Eyez Only

J. Cole has done it again. No features, sleek production, pure storytelling genius. This is an instant classic, whether you see it from the rumored perspective of him telling stories of his friend, and then speaking to him, or just telling stories of the streets, this is the most influential artist next to Kendrick Lamar of our generation, as well as the most lyrical.4_your_eyes_only

Post Malone releases debut “Stoney” album

I gotta admit, after Post Malone’s breakthrough single “White Iverson” went viral, I thought he was just going to be another mumble rap artist in this day in age’s over run mumble rap generation in hip hop. but after his single “Go Flex” came out, I thought he had the potential to be a star. In Post Malone’s debut album “Stoney” he shows incredible versatility, and blends almost what sounds to be Western Folk music into hip hop seamlessly. This guy is a very unique artist, & I look forward to seeing where he grows from this project.

Bruno Mars releases “24K Magic”

This might be our favorite album of the year. Silky smooth, old school r&b sounding instrumentation, modern production techniques, Bruno Mars uniquely silky smooth voice….. find that girl you’ve been wanting to take out, take her to dinner, throw this on during the ride home, make a pit stop & fog up those windows with this album on. This project brings a nostalgia feeling to us 90s kids, reminiscent of times when Usher, Ne-Yo, old school Chris Brown, T-Pain & Akon filled the radio airwaves. A Must Listen.

The Weeknd Releases “StarBoy” – Breaks Streaming Records

761f7ed3fc03b86665c5f52919f6f27b-780x780x1

The Weeknd’s 4th album “StarBoy” was released the day after Thanksgiving, and despite the albums red artwork, Black Friday is alive & well, with eerily dark, yet uplifting at the same time vibes, “StarBoy” shows Abel bringing his own style into the mainstream. with songs like “Reminder” downplaying the exes, & assisted verses from Future, and production help from Daft Punk, this album is a masterpiece. This album broke records for the most streams in the first 24 hours among all streaming services. I Highly suggest you download it to your library, with slick production, and his silky smooth, almost Michael Jackson like voice, some of the songs are bound to make it to your sexy time playlist.
